Create A Website

For quite some time I wanted to start a website. I had several different ideas and then realized that I really wanted to provide information for educators on how to find balance in this very rewarding, yet demanding, profession.

I have to tell you that my search for how to design a website was a long and varied one. First I took a course at our local community center, trying to use free web design software. I learned that the learning curve was quite steep and I became very frustrated.

Next, I started contacting local web designers. Keep in mind that at this point I thought it was all about the polished look of the site, and really didn't understand about keyword demand and supply, finding a niche, or building traffic with inbound links and articles.

Well, some web designers returned my calls and were happy to design a site for anywhere between $1200. to $2800. Some would be able to give me a content management site where I would be able to add information, some didn't even understand what that was and I would need to pay for additional updates. What I knew for sure was that I wanted to be able to design and add to the site myself. (I have control issues.)

I did so much searching on the internet and still couldn't find design and hosting services that were affordable and gave me the quality I was looking for.

My next step was to purchase Building a Web Site for Dummies. Well that just about says it all doesn't it? Needless to say I still didn't have a site. I had learned just enough to be frustrated that I couldn't design one myself.
